Store-bought Valentine’s Day treats are easy and always readily available. However, on this Valentine's Day, why not make a sweet treat for your special someone, or better yet why not get in the kitchen and make it together? It can be a fun way to add a little romance into the day. Maybe you have a Valentine’s Day menu planned with drinks, appetizers, and a main course. Perhaps you are planning to dine out on this celebration of love day. Either way, an indulgent Valentine’s Day dessert is the best way to round out a great meal. Not to mention, there is no better way to say “I love you” than with a homemade decadent treat!

Here is the list of ingredients required:

Homemade brownies, homemade brownie recipe, brownie ingredients, ingredients list

▪ 1 cup, melted butter

▪ 2 cups white sugar

▪ ½ cup cocoa powder

▪ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

▪ 4 eggs

▪ 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

▪ ½ teaspoon salt

▪ ½ teaspoon baking powder

▪ ½ cup of caramel sauce

▪ chocolate heart candies

The Prep time: 15 minutes

The Bake time: 28 minutes

This recipe yields approximately: 10 large brownies

STEP 1:

Preheat the oven to 375° degrees. Grease a 9x13 inch pan. I prefer to use a glass pan whenever baking brownies, but any baking pan will do just fine.

STEP 2:

Combine the melted butter, eggs, flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a mixing bowl. Pour the mixture into the greased pan and drizzle the caramel sauce on top. Be sure to stir a little vigorously to make sure all of the ingredients are well combined. You can also use a mixer on low speed if you prefer.

STEP 3:

Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 28 to 30 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Allow the brownies to cool before cutting. If you have a cooling rack, that always works best to allow the brownies to cool quickly.

STEP 4:

While the brownies are still a little warm, add the chocolate hearts on top. This will allow them to melt just a little into the brownies. I like to use chocolate heart candies with caramel on the inside. This adds an extra layer of caramel goodness! Of course, you can use any chocolate candies of your choosing.

I plated them and then placed these gooey chocolate bars onto the Decocrated winter tray. I created a Valentine’s Day vibe by hanging a heart tea towel from the Decocrated wood ladder. Also, notice the cute way I chose to display extra heart-shaped chocolates on the candle holders from the Decocrated Fall Box. You can always be creative and use the Decocrated décor pieces in unconventional ways.

Let me tell you…these brownies are rich, fudgy in the middle, and made completely from scratch. The “Yummy Valentine” brownies are so much better than those made from a box or purchased from a grocery store! And…I am willing to wager that most of the ingredients required to make them are probably already sitting in your kitchen. I hope you enjoy these treats as much as I do. Happy Valentine’s Day!
