Hello Decocrators! Michelle from Our Crafty Mom here, to share a few simple tips on how to style a tiered tray for spring.
Since first receiving this gorgeous two-tiered tray in the Decocrated Summer Box in 2020 I have been obsessed with decorating it for each season and holiday.
You can see how I decorated this large tiered tray for different holidays and seasons here. As you can see I love tiered trays and decorating them. This tray also works great to serve cupcakes or other sweet treats. Look at how lovely these Bailey's Red Velvet Cupcakes look on the tray!
One of the many (many) reasons I love being a Decocrated member is I can use the items received in my quarterly box to easily decorate my home without having to go anywhere! 😃
The spring box is filled with so many beautiful pieces that fit perfectly on a tiered tray. I’m super excited to show you how I used these pieces and share some styling tips that you can incorporate in your own home.
So, if you’ve been thinking about adding a tiered tray to your home but weren't quite sure where to start, these simple steps will help you get started. Let's get to it!
STEP 1: START WITH A BLANK SLATE
Whenever I am decorating anything in my home, whether it be a mantel, coffee table, or tiered tray, I always start with a blank slate. It's the easiest way to test items out and see what looks best.
STEP 2: CHOOSE A THEME OR STYLE
Next up, you want to decide what look you are going for. For example, today I will be showing you how to decorate the tiered tray with a few key pieces from the Decocrated Spring 2022 Box. So I am going for a spring-themed tray styling
STEP 3: ADD FLORAL
One thing I always add to any tray is some kind of floral. You can use real or fake, whatever works and whatever you have handy in your home.
I was thrilled to see the beautiful glass vase with lamb's ear stems in the spring box. They not only add the softness of florals, but they also add height.
STEP 4: ADD FILLER ACCESSORIES
One of the best tips I have is less is more. For someone who loves "all the things" that is not always easy! But when styling a tiered tray you want the pieces to stand out and not appear cluttered.
That is where the rules of 3 come into play. It's basically where you decorate in odd numbers to achieve a visually appealing look. Some decorators will also refer to this as the "triangle method".
I used the wood beads, ceramic birds, and glass vase with lamb’s ear to fill in the top shelf.
Tips for decorating your tiered tray
I hope you found these tiered tray styling ideas helpful! They are a great way to add some spring cheer to your home. The most important tip is to have fun with it. Don't stress about it and add what YOU like.
