Hey everyone, it’s Morgan Cranston with @the_patientmom, I am so excited to be back and guest blogging for the Decocrated blog! When I last posted I talked about turning a space into a home office for my work from home journey. Since then I have been spending most of my time at home. It’s during this time I realized just how happy a beautifully decorated home makes me. So much so that I am going to let you in on one of my favorite decorating tips… CERAMICS.

Ceramics are one of my go-to home décor items. They are extremely versatile and can add a touch of elegance and character to any room in your house. Which is probably why you can find ceramics incorporated into most of the spaces in my home. From the bathroom to the kid’s bedroom, the options are endless. Keep scrolling to see some of my favorite spaces and how I styled them with ceramics to create what can only be deemed as home decor perfection.

Bathroom

One of my favorite things about my bathroom are these floating rustic wood shelves. They fit perfectly above the toilet and add some elegance to an otherwise boring space. I’ve styled the shelves with ceramic and stone vases filled with dry wildflowers, and this adorable small green pitcher that matches the paint color. The apothecary jar set is stocked with potpourri, cotton balls, Q-tips and bath salts. To finish it off I worked in some small hand towels, a mason jar, a beautifully fragranced sage and citrus candle and a vintage soap holder.

Master Bedroom

If your master bedroom doesn’t have something ceramic, is it even a master bedroom?! I keep this gold and white ceramic dish on my bedside table to hold my earrings and rings when I’m too lazy to get out of bed and put them away. It looks dreamy next to a gold picture frame and the planter from the Summer 2020 Box.

Above the bed are two hanging ceramic planters as well. They add a little greenery to our bedroom which I love!

Entryway

Our entryway is one of my favorite spaces in our home. Maybe because it’s so light and airy,  but more likely because it is nearly always clean compared to the explosion of toys throughout the rest of the house.

On my door I have hung a wood ball spring wreath (a DIY which you can try for yourself here), and a pop of color from the pink flowers on the table really brighten up the space. The flowers are arranged in a ceramic vase alongside a light green (vintage) ceramic dish perfect for storing keys when I walk through the door.

You’ll also notice the book stack from the Spring 2021 Box on the lower shed of the entryway table and the striped rug from the Spring 2020 Box by the front door.

Living Room/Family Room

This gorgeous vintage hutch was one of the first pieces of furniture I purchased for our home. As you can see, it is filled with ceramics. Each shelf has its own sort of “theme”. Mercury glass on the bottom and top shelves. On the very top of the hutch I have a collection of vintage ceramic pitchers and depression glass dishes. On the middle shelf I placed a ceramic frame with a photo from our wedding surrounded by ceramic vases with succulents and milk glass vases.

Mantle

My favorite space to decorate is my mantle. In fact, one of my must haves when house shopping was a fireplace with a mantle. I decorate it to coincide with holidays/seasons, so I change it up on the regular. No matter the holiday, there is always a ceramic element. A pumpkin for fall, trees for Christmas, a pink vase (or two) for Valentine’s Day. And for those in-between times; vases and decorative accents of ceramic galore!

Kid’s Bedroom

I had so much fun decorating my son’s bedroom when I was pregnant. I dreamed to life a western/mountain theme and worked in cacti, succulents, mountains and animals. Ceramics aren’t just fancy; they can be whimsical, too! Take these adorable ceramic dinosaurs and gold elephant. They are cute, without being tacky.

You’ll also notice a variety of ceramic planters dispersed throughout; some I left empty and others filled with artificial succulents.

I added a pop of color to his bookshelf with green ceramic cacti and this bold blue base. They perfectly accent the letter board which I change often for holidays, seasons, etc.
