Ah, the patio. Give my kids a popsicle and my husband and me a glass of wine and it’s one of my favorite places to be on a summer night! That’s actually exactly how the other night went, popsicles and wine. We were sitting around laughing and taking in the last few hours of sunshine, the best, right?
Have you gotten the urge to really get your patio ready for summer yet? I’m not talking about anything crazy but just doing something to freshen up the vibe as we head into the summer months! After spending the last few evenings out on our patio, it got me thinking about some simple (and inexpensive) ways to decorate your patio in preparation for summer!
1. Add a succulent
Plants, flowers, and succulents, oh my! Faux or real, greenery makes a real impact in brightening up a patio space and making it feel inviting and summery. My personal favorite greenery to add to my patio is a faux succulent, perfectly summery and great for me because I’ve killed every real plant I’ve ever owned. Ha!
2. Add lighting
Nothing puts off that romantic summer night vibe like a good candle or a set of string lights. I love to bring out my glassybaby votives and add tea lights, they provide the perfect amount of flickering light and color. Our patio doesn’t make it easy to hang string lights but I would if I could! I love that kind of ambiance.
3. Switch out your throw pillows
This is such a simple update but makes a huge impact! For summer I love the idea of going with something bright. You can also achieve the same idea with an outdoor rug or blanket! These are great ways to bring in a pop of color.
I’d love to hear how you decorate your patio for summer! Leave a comment for us and tell us what you do!
