Y’all, it’s chilly out. Nothing makes me want a hot cup of tea before bed, quite like the dead of winter! Over here in the Seattle area, we are enjoying constant rain, wind, and overall chilly days right now. Sounds fun, right? ;) I don’t usually crave tea (I’m actually not a huge fan of most teas), but ‘tis the chilly season, and I crave warmth!
Today I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Not all tea is created equal. If you buy the right kind of flavored tea, you don’t need sugar to make it taste good! I love a good sweet tea, believe me, however, there are a few teas that are super delicious straight up! Today I’m sharing those with you so you can try them for yourself! Maybe you already love tea, maybe you hate it, either way, I think there’s something in this post for everyone! I can’t wait to share! Get that water boiling!
1. My all-time favorite: Candy Cane Green Tea from Trader Joe’s
I thought I’d start with the best first…you’re welcome. Hands down, this is my favorite tea of all time. I love the peppermint flavor, and I even love peppermint ice cream. Anyone else? ;) Imagine these flavors together: refreshing peppermint, creamy vanilla, and spicy cinnamon + its decaf so you can have it any time of the day! I’ve never tasted anything that comes even remotely close to how delicious this teas flavor is. I dare you, give it a try!!
2. A simple classic: Classic Chai Tea Latte
If you’ve never tried chai tea this way, time to try! When I used to think about chai tea, I would think of tea bags, and I honestly never liked the tea bag version. Instead, I get boxed chai and pour over steamed milk of choice. Y’all. So easy and SO yummy! You can also do this one iced. I usually have this flavor combo in the morning - mainly because it contains a significant amount of caffeine.
3. The smell of the holidays in a cup: Harvest Blend Herbal Tea from Trader Joe’s
This is my husband’s favorite and staple in our house in the fall and wintertime! This is also an excellent option for evening tea because it’s caffeine-free and includes soothing flavors like cinnamon, ginger, hibiscus, chamomile, orange peel, and apple. Just throw that tea bag in hot water and enjoy the delicious aroma before you even take the first sip! For a little more sweetness, sometimes I add a tsp of honey or maple syrup.
4. In sickness and in health: Throat Coat by Traditional Medicinals
Throat Coat is not only my go-to tea when I’m sick, it’s also a great tea to mix with other tea flavors! I personally love Throat Coat + Egyptian Licorice (my MIL introduced me to this tea combo)! It’s naturally a little sweet with the licorice flavor, it gives the tea a one-of-a-kind taste! Such a great option for an evening cup of tea.
There are a few more I could list, but honestly, these are the best of the best! Each of these contains flavors and ingredients that fit perfectly into the winter season and not only warms your belly but warms your heart too!
Now is the time to go find your favorite mug, fill that tea kettle, and pick your flavor! Which one would you go with first?
Happy tea drinking!
xoxo,
Becca
