It’s summer time, which means it’s time to be outside as much as possible. Whether you are dipping in the pool, grilling out, or just enjoying the summer sun, get outside and soak it all in.

With all this time outdoors, you may be thinking to yourself, how do I ensure that all my home decor will remain intact when it comes to insects, the occasional rain shower, or even heat. Well, lucky for you, I have a few tips to share that will help you protect all your home decor pieces so they last all summer and year long!

To ensure that your outdoor furniture will last long, I suggest purchasing covers to protect your lounge chairs. Not only will these cushions make your seat more comfortable, but it will allow the chair to stay protected and cool during the summer heat. You can mix and match fun pops of color and patterns to add to the summer vibe.

As far as treating furnishing goes, the best way to treat your outdoor furniture will honestly vary based on the item and material. Always look at recommended care instructions on the inside of each patio item beforehand.

If you want to use your indoor pillows outdoor, make sure to protect them with a water resistant spray and if possible change the insert to a water proof insert. Simple as that!

When it comes to wood décor and furniture, applying sealant will keep the wood from absorbing moisture which can lead to cracking and warping. If you protect wood furniture with a waterproof cover or in shade the items are likely to last longer and weather slower.

My last tip for protecting outside home décor is to use planters to add greenery to your outside space. I suggest choosing planters that complement your outside color scheme to tie the whole place together.

I hope that these quick tips allow you to soak up the summer season without a care in the world.

Grab yourself a nice cool beverage and get to relaxing! Until next time, happy decorating!
