For the last few weeks, I’ve been looking for inspiration to solve my current problem. My problem: I don’t have a mantle for my stockings! I’ve been scouring Pinterest for ideas and decided I liked a few things from this idea + a few things from that idea…I needed to make it my own! I decided on a stocking feature wall behind my tree and would be using the Decocrated garland from the Fall 2022 Box as the anchor for the whole look! I’m excited to take you along on this little DIY! 

Step one: mount your garland                                                                                                                                       

                                                                                                            

I used mini command hooks to secure my garland to the wall in the shape/flow I desired. I started a little higher on one side just because I like the look of things being a little uneven. Mount your garland however you desire! This will be your base! 

Step two: make ornament bunches                                                                                                                                                                        

                                                                                                                       

I had some extra ornaments in my bin so I grabbed some of my kids pipe cleaners and strung a few ornaments (5-6 of them) on and twisted both ends together to secure the ornaments into a bunch. Then I used the ends of the pipe cleaner to secure the bundle onto various parts of my garland! I did four bunches in this DIY but I probably could have done more! 

Step three: add a larger accent 

I decided to grab the woven basket and the pine bundle from the Winter 2022 Box and display those on one end of the garland. I felt like this would balance the whole look and add some interest! I secured the basket to the wall with a medium wire command hook (making sure to hide the hook under the garland). 

Step four: add the stockings                                                                                                                                                               

                                                                                                                      

After everything else was up, I grabbed four more wire command hooks and placed them where I wanted my stockings to go! They can be bunches together or spaced apart - whatever your preference. 

This entire project took me less than 20 minutes and used only Decocrated items and items I already had laying around the house! I love how it turned out! 

Maybe one day I’ll have a mantle to hang stocking from, but for now I think this is looking pretty great! If you don’t have a mantle, how do you hang your stockings?
