Are you one of those moms who likes to go all out decorating for every holiday? If the answer is yes then we should be besties. Something about a festive house just makes me happy; and when mama is happy, everyone is happy!

With summer coming to a close and the kids heading back to school, I am busting out my fall décor totes and adding a little spice (pumpkin, of course) to my house. And this year I am trying something new - decorating my kids’ rooms. It was so much fun!

I’ve gathered up some tips that make kid’s room fall décor a breeze. Check them out below.

Orange Isn’t the Only Fall Color

When I think of fall colors I immediately think of orange (and brown) hues. But don’t let those typical fall colors hold you back; there are so many other autumn colors you can work with. I like to work in various shades of green, blue, and sometimes red. And gold, of course. Try to incorporate some of the colors you already use in your child’s bedroom so that the fall décor ties into the rest of the room and doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb.

Work In Some Furry Friends

Most kids love animals - live or stuffed - so working some into your fall décor will make your kids smile and help give the room a whimsical vibe. Some of my favorite fall animals are squirrels, raccoons, hedgehogs, and bears!

Take Advantage of Letter Boards

I have letter boards in all of my kids’ bedrooms and I love to put cute messages on them. If you have letter boards, add a cute fall saying/quote to them!

Fall Foliage Accents

Leaves, mums, sunflowers, etc. Anything in a fall hue will look great. But, unless your kids are older I recommend faux plants. Otherwise, you’ll end up with dirt everywhere!

Pumpkins, Pumpkins & More Pumpkins

I LOVE pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colors. From real to ceramic they are a fall décor staple. There are so many colors to choose some so just find some that work with your color scheme. Swap them out with jack-o-lanterns when October hits!

Fall Garlands

Whether you’re passionate about felt ball garland or love stringing together yarn pom-poms, fall garlands can make any space festive. String them along your child’s bed frame, drape them over a letter board or use them to spruce up a bookshelf. Grab some for every season/holiday while you’re at it. I promise you’ll thank me later.

Seasonal Books

Fill your kids’ book nook, bookcase, or bedside table with a variety of seasonal books. Fall is the perfect time to showcase books about Halloween, Thanksgiving, peace, football, sharing, and more. My top-secret mom tip? Store your seasonal books along with your décor so you don’t lose them AND so your kids will be super excited to see them again once you dust them off.

And there you have it! Now, it’s time to decorate. Happy fall, ya’ll!
