At some point, most of us have looked around at our home and felt a little lackluster or uninspired by our home décor. Perhaps you have thought about changing out your furnishings or replacing something major like flooring. Sometimes we don’t have the budget to match our design aspirations but fortunately, there are many interior décor updates that will give us just the refresh we need!

Large Colorful Artwork

Whether you live in a small apartment or a large home, whether you love farmhouse décor or a more modern style, deciding on how to decorate empty walls can be a struggle. Fortunately, there are many options to choose from. One of my favorite go-to options is to fill the blank wall void with large wall art. Using an oversized piece of art can easily create a focal point in any room. In this home office, I took advantage of a large empty wall above the accent cabinet and filled it with a colorful 40” x 50” framed abstract painting. Oversized artwork is an easy way to update and add boldness to any room.

Fresh Flowers

Fresh flowers are a great way to freshen up and compliment any décor. Nowadays you can find fresh flowers inexpensively at grocery stores, flower markets and even at farmer’s markets. I like to purchase a bouquet of flowers at least once a week to keep them in a fresh rotation. Also, as a bonus, it has been
discovered that fresh flowers help to improve your mood and lowers stress levels.

Add Ring Pulls to the back of barstools or chairs

Adding a ring pull to the back of a chair or a barstool is a simple, easy, and inexpensive way to add a high-end look. I was able to DIY these counter stools with the classic lion head ring pull and it totally transformed the look of the stools.

Replace Furniture Hardware

Consider updating your furniture hardware. It’s a really simple way to update and change the look of your dressers, chest of drawers and even cabinets. I changed the look of the chest of drawers in this home office by adding big chunky drawer pulls. Changing out your hardware is also a great way to tie mismatched furniture pieces together and give the space a more coordinated look. Updating your hardware can make an inexpensive piece of furniture look like a million bucks!

Fortunately, there are a ton of cost-effective interior update ideas you can easily implement. I hope my suggestions will help you to get started!
