Hey party people! Let’s make a Halloween treat today - but let’s keep it as simple as possible, shall we? I love Fall and all that comes with it but my family is about to welcome another baby to the family and I am always searching for festive activities, recipes, decor that take minimal effort! I’ve got a great one for you today: spooky brownies (from a box)!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- A box of your favorite brownie mix (I personally feel Ghirardelli double chocolate brownie mix is king here)!
- White decorating frosting or regular frosting will work if you have cake piping materials or a zip lock bag you can cut the tip off of.
- Edible eyeballs (optional, but so dang cute)!

Start by baking your brownies according to the box instructions. I suppose you could also make brownie cupcakes and decorate the top if you’d like! I opted to bake in a baking dish and then cut brownies into rectangles once they’re cooled off.

Once brownies are completely cooled, take your white decorating icing or piped icing and make a mummy effect by going back and forth width-wise with the frosting. It doesn’t have to be perfect, in fact, imperfection is better, as it adds to the overall look! Don’t you love a project like that? Mess-ups are okay!
After you’re done with your frosting, if you’re so inclined, add the eyeballs. These can be the edible eyeballs you get in the baking aisle of the grocery store, or they can be any round candy you have on hand! Anything works!
Place your spooky treats on the cutest Halloween platter ever, aka the Decocrated Spider Web Ceramic Tray from the Halloween 2023 DeLuxe Box, and enjoy!
My kids loved these, they’re a true crowd-pleaser because who doesn’t love a good brownie?? Let us know how yours turns out!
