Spring is here which means I’m often changing up my decor to add in all of the pretty colors, flowers, and fun decorative items. After the cold winter months, I’m ready for lots of change and lots of light in my house. When springtime arrives, I often get the itch to create easy spring crafts and I wanted to share one with you!
I have an easy sock bunny craft for you to make at home that I promise will not take you more than ten minutes (maybe even less) to make. No sewing required! This is a perfect craft to make with your kids.
Materials needed:
-sock
-masking tape roll
-rice
-scissors
-twine
-ribbon
-marker (optional)
1.) To start, slip the sock through the middle of the masking tape roll. Then flip the sock cuff over the edge of the tape roll. This will help keep the sock open so you can fill it up with rice.
2.) Pour as much rice as you want into the sock, but don’t fill past the heel of the sock. You will likely have to shake the sock a bit to get the rice to settle. I do recommend trying to fill as close to the heel of the sock as you can so your bunny ears won’t be so long (see step #5 below).
3.) Once you have poured in enough rice, pinch the sock to make a body. You will want the body to be bigger than the head portion.
4.) Tie off the body section with a piece of twine and then tie off the top of the head. I just tied the twine into a double knot to hold each section securely. It is important that the twine at the top of the head is knotted in the back so you don’t see the twine when the bunny is on display.
5.) Hold up the cuff part of the sock and cut down the middle to make your ears. Here is where you can get creative and make the ears however long you prefer. I like to cut each ear at an angle.
6.) Next cut the long ends of the twine off, careful not to cut the twine that is holding the body and top of the head in place.
7.) Wrap your preferred ribbon around the bunny, in between the head and the body.
8.) Optional: draw eyes and a nose on the bunny with a permanent marker.
9.) When displaying your adorable bunny with your decor, you can shape the head and the body however you want. I like to make the head into an oval shape to make it look more like the actual shape of a bunny.
10.) Enjoy! (You don’t have to wait until Easter to display your bunny, add this cute sock bunny to your decor now)
This is such an easy craft that anyone can do. You can really have fun with this by looking for patterned socks to create a bunny. Solid color socks work great too. This bunny is the perfect addition to your Spring decor and looks nice next to the glass vase and lamb’s ear stems from the Spring 2022 Decocrated box or Clock from the Decocrated shop.
