I loved the wooden pedestal from the Decocrated Spring 2022 Box but the dark wood tone was just not what my home needed at the moment. I am really into white right now - white trim, white doors, white built-in shelves, white curtains. Probably not ideal with 3 preschoolers but it really helps to lighten up my house. So, I decided to hack (Decohack!) the wooden pedestal by painting it white and adding some fun, boho scrapbook paper liner. Now it is perfect for my daughters’ recently updated boho bedroom!

Hack yours by following these instructions.

Supplies

  • Wooden pedestal
  • White chalk paint
  • Modge Podge
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Pencil

Instructions

Cut a circle out of the scrapbook paper to fit the diameter of the top of the pedestal. I actually found a bowl that was the same size and traced that with a pencil, and then cut it out with scissors.

Paint the pedestal with white chalk paint.

I did four coats. Allow drying completely between each coat.

Use Modge Podge to glue the scrapbook paper onto the top of the pedestal.

Modge Podge, spread modge podge on it, put modge podge on the pedestal

Once dry, paint a coat or two of Modge Podge over the top of the scrapbook paper to seal it.

Paint a coat of modge podge, let modge podge dry

Once dry, you are done! And now you have a super cute white pedestal.

I’m currently using it to hold jewelry on my daughters’ dresser. It looks so good.

Gold circle, jewelry holder, jewelry stand, jewelry dish

I think I might use it for entertaining or holidays and just place a different piece of scrapbook paper on top to go with the season. Wouldn’t this look great with a blue and red stars set up for the 4th of July? I can’t wait to use it in a few other ways.
