Tree Decorating Tips

Hey friends! It’s me again, Becca from www.drivingmissmacey.com! Today I wanted to share my Christmas tree decorating tips with you + what my tree looks like this year! My family is different…we decide every year whether we are putting up a fake tree or a real tree. I know, so weird haha! This year we pulled out our fake tree. It’s a modest little thing but I love her. Here are a few key things I think about when decorating my tree:

  1. Use unique ornaments to add interest

The wood ornaments from this latest Decocrated Christmas box (2022) made the perfect addition to my tree this year. I know there are many ways to use these but I love how they add variation (both in size and shape) to my tree! I hung these immediately and cannot get over how much I like them!

  1. Try using ribbon

I started adding ribbon to my tree about 5 years ago and have never looked back! Whether you use a real tree or a fake tree, adding that extra dimension brings sophistication to your tree - trust me! Make sure you use a wired ribbon so that you can secure the ribbon to each branch. Cascade the ribbon down the tree vertically, don’t wrap it around like you would the string lights.

  1. Use a blanket as a tree skirt

I was having such a hard time finding a tree skirt I loved for my Christmas tree. I even tried finding a basket, as seen on Pinterest (love this idea) but was still struggling. I have this gorgeous winter pom-pom blanket I’ve been obsessed with for years. One year I just decided, let’s try a blanket as a tree skirt! Guys!! I haven’t looked back. I love the fullness of a blanket as a tree skirt vs the traditional tree skirt look. You can manipulate it however you want, I love that flexibility to make it fuller looking or flatter depending on your preference!

What are your favorite ways to decorate your tree? We’d love to hear from you! Comment below!
