When I first opened my Decocrated Summer 2022 box, I immediately fell in love with the faux plant. This piece stood out to me the most due to its flexibility. It can be added to any room and is an asset to any decorated space. I especially liked the white ceramic vase– it is the perfect canvas for a DIY project when you’re feeling crafty!

In this DIY project, I put my hot glue gun to use and decorated the ceramic vase to match my nieces’ mermaid-inspired summer bedroom. With a few gems and a ribbon, the faux plant became a cute addition to the decor while adding a freshness to the space.

First, I used the hot glue gun to attach different colored gems in the form of a mermaid tail. I chose to create a border with different colors, and then fill the tail in with some sparkling beads.

Next, I carefully glued hot glue dots to the ceramic vase. I had never tried gluing dots before without attaching a bead or decoration, but it turned out to be a fun addition!

Finally, I tied an aqua-colored bow around the ceramic vase and used the hot glue gun to secure it.

And that’s it! The faux plant turned out to be such a cute addition to the girls’ room and blended really well with the summer mermaid theme.
